Movement

Senior Fall Prevention. This is something we all need to be aware of on a regular basis, whether in our homes or out. Along with advice like regular exercise to improve strength and balance, we need to adapt our homes with any equipment or accessories that are necessary, ensure proper lighting and remove hazards in the home, especially on the floor. Dr. Leslie Kernisan, Gerontologist, takes our personal health and living conditions into consideration as she suggests personal plans for us.

Wellness

Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM). Used primarily to track glucose levels in diabetics, they are now being more widely used for the sake of monitoring our own metabolic health. Fitt Insider provides excellent information about trends in CGM use and options available. We have published articles by Fitt Insider in the past. They primarily work with health clubs but their information is so thorough, I choose to publish them versus others.

Aging In Place

Some more technology. Forbes Magazine takes us through options for the Smart Home. There are many options to adapt our homes so our lives are safer and more comfortable such as setting thermostats, lighting, door locks, observing security cameras and motion detectors. In the next issue we will list consultants who can assist in advising on what is needed and where to source products.

Caregivers

More technology and information for caregivers and receivers. There is a lot here so take what is most relevant to you.

And One More Thing

The benefits of walking. Snow in the forecast tomorrow but it is April and better weather is around the corner. Here is a re-print of an article from last Spring by Johanna Diamond, my physical therapist, and the benefits of walking. Try and get out as much as possible as the days permit.
