Movement
Spending Time In Nature
We have had several spring like days recently and as we progress through March, they will be coming more often. This will give us ample opportunity to get out and enjoy nature. We are blessed with many neighborhoods, parks and forest preserve trails in the Chicago area that we have ready access to. The National Park Service lists all the ways that getting out into nature can help us, physically, mentally and spiritually.

Wellness
Living With Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI)
As we age, many of us experience changes in our ability to remember as well as we once did and to function at a high of a level as we have been used to. This is a natural progression for many but if you have concerns about issues like this that you have been experiencing, consider discussing them with your health care professional. I have, and was referred to a neurologist. While he felt I was basically doing OK for my age (75), he suggested some further testing, which I will do later this month. I will let you know how it goes. The Washington Post delves into MCI and what we can do to help ourselves as we age.

Aging In Place
Stair Lift
As the information provided here by Lifeway suggests, looking into a stair lift is a good idea, not just after an injury or onset of infirmity, but also as a preventative measure to limit risk of accidents on stairs for us as we age. There is a wealth of information here, from different lift options to costs. Even if you feel you don’t need this information now it may be something you want to save for the future.

Caregivers
Exercise to relieve stress is an important component of being a caregiver. The state of Illinois details reasons why caregivers should do this, followed by links to some exercises and more information to relieve stress. It may sound selfish, but taking care of ourselves as caregivers is as important as the care we provide to our loved ones.

And One More Thing
Sports Gambling.
Once more, we are going to go in a different direction than normal, but if you happen to be a sports fan, there is no getting away from this phenomenon. All the major sports leagues banned gambling years ago, by players of course, but still did not want any association with gambling at all. Now, major league ballparks and stadiums ,like Wrigley Field, have gambling facilities on their grounds to facilitate bets of all kinds, not just the game going on that day. The title of this article says it all. These gambling companies not only feature sports gambling, but offer users enticements for many other forms. Senior citizens make up over 20% of the users of these sites so I felt this was relevant.
