Movement Wellness Aging In Place And One More Thing
Top Ten Checklist for Better Health and Aging in 2024
Dr. Leslie Kernisan covers all three major categories here, movement, wellness and aging in place. Following her direction using the ten items she lists will help us all have a healthy new year in 2024. As usual, Dr. Kernisan’s information is valuable and relevant.

Importance of A1C Testing
The higher your A1C level, the greater your risk of developing diabetes complications such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, eye problems and nerve damage. “Early detection allows for timely intervention and lifestyle changes,” says Amina F. Basha, MD, an endocrinologist at Northwestern Medicine. Dr Basha is the author of this article and points out the importance of having our A1C tested on a regular basis as we age. Diabetes can be the result of elevated A1C levels and Dr. Basha explains the other, serious chronic diseases that result from diabetes. I struggle with this and get tested every three months.

Health Care Affordability In 2024

The Health Populi Blog provides information here that health care consumers are concerned about as we enter 2024. This information applies to all age groups and care receivers and caregivers alike. Further reasons to take care of ourselves as we age and not be over-burdened by health care needs and costs.
Caregivers
The next two articles include some basic information about how caregivers can take care of themselves while performing this important, selfless act. We will be dedicating more articles and information for caregivers in future issues.

And One More Thing
This article from the Cleveland Clinic states that only one third of Americans eat nuts on a regular basis in spite of them being an important part of a heart healthy diet. Devon Peart, RD, tells us of their value to our health and how we can work more of them into our daily diet.
