Movement Wellness Wellness And One More Thing
Updates.
Stay Healthy Stay Home will not be published next week. We will be back in your inbox on Thursday, January 4, 2024.
Beginning with that edition, we will publish five articles each week versus three, plus And One More Thing. There is a lot going on in senior living these days and we want to stay on top of as much as possible.
Finally, in the first quarter of 2024, in addition to the increase in weekly articles, we will have regular contributions by professionals from the Chicago area in gerontology, health care, wellness and fitness to help us achieve our goal of staying healthy and in our homes.
Thank you for you support this past year. It is appreciated and we look forward to serving you in the future.
Have a happy, healthy holiday season!

How To Stay Active In The Winter
The Mayo Clinic offers a up a variety of ways to stay active in the winter months. They advise two and one half hours per week of moderate intensity exercise. This can be done with or without any equipment or accessories. Today (Wednesday) was a beautiful day here in the Chicago metro and I got out for a walk but there will be many days over the next few months that won’t be so nice. Take caution regarding the cold temperatures and slick surfaces if you do venture out.

Drinking Water
It is important to stay hydrated this time of year also. It can be difficult to do with the cold, dry air for extended periods during these months. The quality of our municipal water has increased over the years but there can still be harmful chemicals and other contaminants in our water supply today. Consumer Reports provides us with valuable information that can keep us safe and hydrated.

Illegal Diabetes Treatments and Fraudulent Pharmacies.
The headline says it all here. The CDC is publishing warnings. With the number of adults with diabetes continuing to grow, this is a serious problem. There are many things to look out for here with these products and pharmacies. It is difficult enough to take care of ourselves and get and stay healthy without having to deal with these issues.

And One More Thing
Podcasts. I have several that I enjoy on a regular basis and am always looking for new ones that are entertaining and others that are educational. Here is a list of 27 popular podcasts for senior citizens. I listen to several on the list and look forward to trying a few I am not familiar with.

As usual, Stay Healthy Stay Home, has no affiliation with and generates no income from any of the organizations that provide articles.
