Introducing Stay Healthy Stay Home Version 2
In this version of the newsletter, we will feature how adults in the 40-80 year old age range can deal with chronic disease by changing lifestyle habits, primarily through improved nutrion and increased movement. Other issues, such as the effect of climate on older adults, adapting our homes as we age, etc, will be addressed as well. Currently in the US, over 75% of adults 40-60 have 1 chronic disease with 30% having 2 or more. 90% of adults 60-80 have one chronic disease and more than 60% have 2 or more. In 2025, $3.7 trillion was spent on direct medical costs to treat chronic disease with another $1.2 trillion spent on indirect costs for a total of $4.9 trillion.
