Stay Health Stay Home is a newsletter published every Thursday at 9AM CDT, for senior citizens who require various levels of care, and their caregivers, usually a family member or sometimes a friend. While we are not experts in this field, we believe our lives are a gift and our goal is to connect our subscribers with valuable, relevant information in the form of articles, videos, interviews, etc., that they may not have the time to source themselves.
The primary issues for care receivers seem to be chronic health issues and safety, especially from falls due to lack of strength and fitness. Caregivers also deal with many issues as they perform this valuable service, including maintaining their own mental and physical health, isolation, taking care of their own children and families, problems their caregiving duties cause in work situations if they are employed, and in many cases, the resulting potential financial problems they incur.
According to AARP, nearly 90% of senior citizens want to remain in their home, but due primarily to the reasons mentioned above that percentage drops considerably in many cases.
The newsletter has three main sections, one for care receivers or those primarily in the 65-90 age range and, two, for caregivers, usually those who are 40-75 years old. A third section will provide information for “both” care receivers and caregivers that pertains to all those 40-90. There will be a feature article in each issue, followed by 3-6 posts for each of the three main sections and a final post titled “And One More Thing”.
