Preventing Falls
Our friend, Dr, Leslie Kernisan, talks about three ways to prevent falls in this article on a very important subject. She goes over in detail why falls occur, the serious consequences of them and how we can prevent them. She talks about doing strength training and balance exercises as one of the methods to help be safe. My balance is not good so I do exercises prescribed to me by my Physical Therapist, Jo Diamond, who contributed an article to Stay Health Stay Home earlier, and am making marked improvement. If you struggle with balance I highly recommend working with a professional such as Jo to get started. There are also many videos available on YouTube created by professionals.

Craving Sweets
Here is an article from the Cleveland Clinic explaining why we crave sugar and many sweets and how we can stop. Like many of us, I struggle with this on a regular basis. With the prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes, dealing with this craving is more important than ever.

Life Plan Communities
The rating agency Fitch has a bleak outlook for the financial health of many levels of life plan communities. While there is consistent and even increasing demand by senior citizens wishing to move to facilities with different levels of care, there are major financial hurdles for these companies, primarily finding qualified employees resulting in an increasingly competitive payroll structure and also inflation driving up the costs of many products used internally. This is further incentive to get healthy, stay health and stay home.

Breaking a Sugar Addiction
To go a little further into sugar and sweets addiction, here is a video by Dr. Mark Hyman of the Cleveland Clinic that can also help us get on the way to breaking this addiction. As usual, Stay Health, Stay Home has no affiliation with and derives no income from any advertisers associated with this video or any articles posted today.
